Programs
Sometimes the best work is done outside of the counselor's office and within the parameters of good programming. I get especially excited when opportunities arise to create programming for student health and wellness. Below are highlights of some of the programs I've created and managed.
Redesigned and expanded current advisory program to include SEL guided lesson plans and expanded advisor role to enable more robust advisee support, as well as designed and coordinated Wellness Wednesday activities over the course of 5 weeks for 4 grade levels to support students' transition back to campus after the Stay-at-Home order was lifted;
Created Peer Support Program consisting of junior and senior students trained to provide support to frosh and sophomore students, including leading workshops, teaching about mental health and wellness to 7th grade Human Development classes, and one-on-one support to any student requesting peer support;
Expanded the current Peer Mentor program to include a 2-day leadership retreat, ongoing communication and group facilitation skills training, as well as planning and leading 9th grade advisories;
Coordinate parent education opportunities including parent coffees, parent education speakers, and parent book groups; and
Coordinated Fentanyl Awareness Campaign across 4 grade levels, including organizing a speaker from Huntington Hospital to meet with each grade level and speak at a parent coffee to educate the community about Fentanyl.
